Sandbox vs. live mode

How the two environments differ and how to switch between them.

Every account has two fully separate environments. Sandbox is for building and testing; live is for real payments.

  • Sandbox data, API keys and webhook endpoints never mix with live ones.
  • Sandbox API keys start with al_sk_test_; live keys start with al_sk_live_.
  • Sandbox screens are clearly labelled so you always know which environment you're in.
  • No real money moves in sandbox, and test payments are never settled.

Switching to live

Live mode becomes available when your payment provider has enabled your account and you're on a paid plan. Use the environment switcher in the dashboard to move between sandbox and live.
