How disputes work
What happens when a customer disputes a charge with their bank.
A dispute (or chargeback) happens when a cardholder asks their bank to reverse a payment. Disputes are handled between your payment provider, the card networks and the customer's bank.
- We show disputes in your dashboard as your provider reports them, and send a payment.disputed webhook.
- Responding with evidence is done through your payment provider's process.
- The outcome is decided by the card issuer and network rules, not by us, and not by the provider alone.
- Any dispute fees are set and charged by your provider.
