Payments glossary
What is tokenization?
Tokenization replaces sensitive card data with a random token that is useless if stolen, so systems can reference a payment method without storing the card number.
The real card number is held only by the provider's secure vault. Merchants and platforms store the token instead.
How it works in Allidian
Allidian never receives or stores card numbers or CVVs. It only stores provider references and, where the provider supplies them, the card brand and last four digits.
